Summary:

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants. Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Elen vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind. Summary:

Mikado Ryūgamine, a young boy who longs for the exciting life of the big city, moves to Ikebukuro at the invitation of his childhood friend Masaomi Kida, who he has not seen since he was young, to attend Raira Academy with him. After meeting Masaomi at the train station, they both set out at night to the streets of Ikebukuro. Masaomi warns him about people he doesn’t want to cross in the city: like a violent and super-humanly strong man, Shizuo Heiwajima, an information broker, Izaya Orihara, and a mysterious gang known as “The Dollars.” After running into some of the side characters, Mikado witnesses a local legend called the “Black Rider”, who rides around Ikebukuro on a black bike that occasionally brays like a horse and also rumored to have no head under its helmet. The “Black Rider” is Celty Sturluson, an Irish dullahan who is in Ikebukuro looking for her stolen head. The narrative follows all of the characters equally, showing how their lives intersect, creating a greater plot-line from what each character knows about a common incident. Continue reading

Twenty-two years have passed since Roger’s execution, and the story focuses on Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy who, after inadvertently eating a devil fruit known as the Gum Gum Fruit when he was younger, has become a rubber man capeable of stretching any part of his body in exchange for his ability to swim. Inspired by his childhood idol and powerful pirate Red Haired Shanks, Luffy sets off on a journey from the East Blue Sea to find Roger’s legendary treasure and become King of the Pirates. Summary:

After losing his sister seven years ago, Satsuki Kakeru led a vacant life, only able to return to normal with help from his childhood friend Minase Yuka and other friends at school. Suddenly one day the sky turns red, and the moon turns black. Everyone around Kakeru and Yuka disappears and monsters start roaming the streets. They are able to run away and hide and after a while, the world returns to normal. But just when they thought this world was a dream, the Red Night occurs again. Kakeru and Yuka manage to find four other humans involved in this mysterious phenomenon. They get together and try to survive, but six shadows suddenly appear in front of them…. These six shadows call themselves the “Black Knights,” and for an unknown reason wish to kill Kakeru and friends. The teenagers wind up coming across a girl with flowing silver hair wearing a white dress, trapped in a red crystal. She claims that she is being held captive and asks for their help. The Black Knights prevent them from doing anything and begin referring to Kakeru’s friends as “fragments” and to Kakeru as “the bearer of the ‘eye of Aeon’.” As they go on trying to survive, the six teenagers gradually form bonds and begin to work together in order to defeat the Black Knights, in the hopes that this will end the Red Night once and for all.
